Anna Miller

Ever since my work placement in a local primary school at the age of fifteen, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. After A Levels, I went on to study a BEd (Hons) English (QTS) at Cambridge University. After graduating, I came home to Lincolnshire to begin my teaching career.

 

My first teaching role was a Year 3/4 class teacher and Literacy Coordinator in a village primary school. I then moved to a secondary special school as a senior teacher, taking on a range of responsibilities including Head of English and Raising Achievement Coordinator. Working in a completely different type of school with older learners was challenging at first, but I quickly knew it was where I was meant to be. I focused on teaching KS4 and supporting learners through Entry Level and Level 1 and 2 Functional Skills English and later introduced GCSE English Language for a small cohort of learners who needed greater academic challenge and a curriculum enriched by high-quality texts. I felt proud of the work we did and deeply connected to the learners and families I supported.

I then returned to primary teaching for a year and also completed an exam season as a GCSE English Language examiner, which really strengthened my understanding of the specification and my ability to teach the course effectively.

​

I was then very fortunate to have the opportunity to work within a Teaching School on a county‑wide school improvement initiative designed to help schools use evidence to improve teaching, learning and pupil wellbeing. I designed and led projects focused on mental health and wellbeing, behaviour and feedback and marking. It was incredibly rewarding to see schools make whole‑school changes that improved both learning and wellbeing for children. My most recent role was Lead Practitioner within a School Trust.

I feel very fortunate to have had such a varied and fulfilling career to date. Now feels like the right time to bring all my experience together through Anna Miller Education.

​

I am excited to be able to offer high‑quality, adaptive English and 11+ tuition. I specialise in teaching neurodivergent and SEND learners, and those who thrive with a calm, confidence-building approach, as well as learners who are working towards a specific grade to access their next steps in education. As a parent of a neurodivergent teenager, I also have lived experience and understand how important it is for young people to have the right educational support to help them to achieve their potential. Tuition can make a meaningful difference — building confidence, supporting self‑esteem, nurturing wellbeing, and strengthening academic outcomes over time.

In addition to tuition, I am pleased to offer Education Consultancy, supporting school improvement across key areas of development. 

​

Outside of work, I live in Sleaford in Lincolnshire with my husband and our two children. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me reading or out for coffee with my sister or my friends. A flat white makes me happy! I love going to the theatre and have been lucky enough to see plays at the beautiful Minack Theatre in Cornwall and Shakespeare’s Globe in London. I also love days out with my family, especially exploring National Trust places and spending time in the fresh air.
